Game report
Surprise package of this tournament Team Slovenia recorded another success over a Slovakian team thanks to a perfect start to the game. Matevz Erman slipped behind the Slovakian defence to open the scoring at 1:45. Despite quick equalizer thanks to Roman Simunek and his surprising shot out of the blue, Slovenia was on top and scored two quick goals in 7th minute. Dejan Zemva beat Ondrejka with an accurate shot from the left and Anze Kuralt then finished a nice combination right under the crossbar.
It all was too much for Jozef Ondrejka in the Slovakian goal and he was replaced by Roman Hrusovsky. However, Slovenia increased their lead early in the second period thanks to Ales Remar´s powerplay goal after a quick combination play. Slovakian players were in deep trouble, but managed to bounce back in a remarkable fashion. Roman Simunek beat Kroselj on his glove side and two minutes later, Cunderlik fired in a third goal from Novajovsky´s pass.
Ruckay then had a glorious chance to tie the game for Slovakia, but missed an open net and after two minutes, Slovakia was two goals down again after Kralj´s effort. After 30 minutes of play, Loboda increased Slovenia´s lead to 5-3. Galik then managed to claw one back, but it was not enough for Slovakia despite many penalties in the closing stages. “The game was very nervous, referees did not do a good job,” said Dejan Zemva of Team Slovenia. “We could not convert our powerplays, so we have to improve that.”
Ruckay´s long range goal three seconds before the end was no more than a consolation. “We lose all games because of penalties,” said Slovakia´s Roman Simunek. “We have to learn how to play a disciplined game, that´s the key.”

Game reactions
Imrich Antal (Team Slovakia coach): We have a lot of new players and find a way to play the game. It is completely different to the Slovakian league, especially the speed. We have problems with discipline, but I have to say that these games should be officiated by the best referees. I do not want any player injured just because a referee cannot judge a situation properly.
Roj Rojsek (Team Slovenia coach): Today´s game was very nervous, I don´t know why. Some refereeing decisions were really arguable. We could not convert powerplays today, as opposed to our previous games. Hopefully it is going to be better in the future.
