Game report

James Trevena-Brown was definitely looking forward to the game against Hungary. At least it looked like that. The most enthusiastic player sadly put all his enthusiasm into the wrong style of play and received two minor penalties within the first three minutes. But he managed to redeem by scoring the first two goals. One in the 10th minute and the other one at the beginning of the second period after a nice individual action.

But Hungary forced Coleman to make mistakes. David Szappanos capitalized on one of them with nice combination and Akos Kiss scored from the blue line. Coleman didn´t manage to keep the puck in his glove and it fell out behind the goal line.

The favourites turned the game over. Zoltan Revak and Arnold Feil scored within 25 seconds to give Hungary a two-goal lead.

James Trevena-Brown didn´t want New Zealand to lose this game and his hat-trick offerd a chance to tie it, which really happend thanks to Trent Kemsley´s goal in the 46the minute. But New Zealand wasn´t destined to earn any point in this match. Attila Orban scored the game winner 77 seconds before the end.

Game reactions

Tamas Pilcsik (Team Hungary coach): It was a very difficult game, because we left our heads in the locker room in the first period. Fortunately we managed to get back into the game, took our chances and turned the game around. We won and I am happy about it.
Patrik Lee (Team New Zealand coach): I think we played a good game. We definitely improved, yesterday we conceded seven goals. Tomorrow we will face Argentina, which is again a completely different style of play.
