South Africa´s David Berger hoping to stay in the division
Despite three losses in the group stage, Team South Africa has won many sympathies over here at this year´s World championship in Pardubice. The African team still has a chance for a success, though. "Hopefully we can stay in the division," says goalkeeper David Berger. Their quarterfinal match is coming up on Thursday against Team Hungary.

Could you tell us something about inline hockey in South Africa?
It is something pretty new. We have only been to two World championships before and we have got only about two or three rinks, so it is not a very big thing. Hopefully we can stay in the division, come back next year and do better.
If someone wants to play inline in your country, is it possible and well accessible?
Yes, the three rinks are about one hour from each other. We have a development team and some kids playing this sport, more people are coming. I guess it is good news and we will see what happens.
Is there an inline league organized in South Africa?
Yes, but we have only three teams playing so we play each other many times during six months and then we play ice hockey in the rest of the year.
What is your goal for the tournament?
We obviously wanted to do better and come up with a couple of wins, but our main goal now is to stay in this division and not fall back to the qualifying round.
How do you like the host city and Czech Republic?
I love Czech Republic. Beautiful women, good hockey, good food. Yeah, and maybe a few good parties afterwards. We will see how it goes.
