Czech coach Petr Hemsky: Fans are great!
The Czechs did not lose a single point and are anxious to meet their brothers from Slovakia in the quarterfinals. The fans started to find their way into the CEZ Arena. A crowd of almost 5,000 fans attended the game between the Czechs and Swedes.

"I hope that even more fans will come to support us in the quarterfinals. Many fans came not only from Pardubice but also from more distant places," said Hemsky. The game against Slovakia is scheduled for Thursday at 18:00.
You have not lose a single point, you scored 24 goals and allowed only 6. Are you satisfied fot the performance of your team so far?
Yes, I am. I played a very good in-line hockey here, in spite of the fact, the game against Sweden was not excellent from our side. We had a lot of penalties and we have to avoid that in the play-offs.
Now you play against the Slovaks in a crucial quarterfinal game...
We had an optional practice on Wednesday and rested a lot. We want to be ready for Slovaks, eager to beat them.
Are you happy that it is the Slovaks who you play in the
quarterfinal game?
I hope we will have a good tournament as our ice hockey
team had in Bratislava WC. That is important for us.
There are more and more fans coming to CEZ Arena. Do you
feel, the city breathe with in-line hockey now?
Yes, we all are pleased. We hope that we will play very
well and bring even more fans to the arena, not only from Pardubice. In-line hockey is quite a new sports, it is a good promotion.
You are a coach of ice hockey and also in-line hockey.
What is the difference?
In-line hockey is about the arches and turns, ice hockey
is more about brakes and starts. It is quite a difference. The coaching is similar, but you have to act differently in particular situations. You just cannot go to forecheck the way you can do it in ice hockey. It is much harder to react on wheels and chance the direction. You have to think much more in in-line hockey, this kind of sport is much more for smart players with a lot of technique skills.
In-line hockey looks slower, but I think there is more
tactics and techniques in it...
Yes, it is. You use more your head. And you said it is
slower. If you give a sporttester to a player, the values are much higher in in-line hockey. This kind of sports is much more demanding.
What is the difference in tactics between in-line hockey and ice hockey?
The bottom line is, that you play in-line hockey only with four players on both sides. You play 4 times 12 minutes, but there are fewer shifts. If you have great players, you use them more in in-line hockey.
There are in-line hockey specialists and ice hockey
players on your team. Is it tough to put these types of
guys together?
It is my 5th World championship and I know which
players I should take for the World championship and which not. Many in-line hockey players may not be happy with that, but I know why I did not take them. I tried to pick the characters which will match well together.
When you put the lines together, how do you mix the
players?
I try to use the types which match together. For example, Ludek Broz and Martin Vozdecky are typical in-line hockey players, but there is Karel Rachunek behind them and he is a ice hockey star.
